Are You Able To Have A Stove??
This is a Quick Guide to see if an installation of a stove
would be
classed as a STANDARD fit or a FIREPLACE REFURBISHMENT.
Standard Fit
Fireplace opening with a minimum size of :-
23" wide (all the way back!)
27" high
13" deep (from front of fireplace to back of fireplace)
12" of hearth in front of fireplace opening.
For example see picture below

This installation shows a Morso Squirrell in,
what I consider,
the smallest opening for a stove.
(Note the Minimum 4" gap either side of the stove and the 6" gap above
and the 12" hearth in front of stove)
We had the Solid Oak Surround custom made to suit the opening.
Any opening Bigger than this is GOOD! ie :-

A nice Large 5 foot wide Inglenook.
This 14 kw Jotul F600 we installed, heats this Massive
Annexe.
Fireplace Refurbishment
Standard British Fireplace opening of :-
16"-18" Wide (tapering down to about 10" wide at
the back)
22" High
Approx 10" deep (to back of firebrick)
for example see fireplace below

(Note this fireplace has a 16" Tapered Firebrick
installed)
This fireplace needed OUR Alteration service to turn it in to THIS :-

This is The Morso Badger 3110
fitted into the Original 1920's Opening
(plaster is still drying in this picture).
Here is another Fireplace that WILL NOT be able to have
a stove
until an alteration is done
We turned this:-

Into This:-
This Fireplace was structurally altered to make it into an opening
big enough for a stove.

Ready for ANY stove!
I hope all this information helps you, and we look forward to
seeing you in the showroom soon.
